The most important suggestion for a successful headshot has nothing to do with the photographer!
The two most common complaints when someone looks at their professional headshot are: “My hair looks terrible” or “Ugh I don’t like my make-up”. After years of creating headshots for authors, actors, real estate brokers and executives, I now require that their hair and make-up be professionally done for the session.
You should use your hairdresser and prepare your hair as you usually do. This is not the time to try a new style or hairdresser.
The make-up artist should understand the type of make-up that needs to be used under bright studio lighting and should be willing to prepare your make-up to your style and personality.
